Search Ends For Fisherman Thrown From Boat Off Orange County

DANA POINT (AP) — Authorities have called of a search for a fisherman who was tossed from a boat off the coast of Orange County.

Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Jeff Hallock says the search for 43-year-old Tan Hoang Vu of Riverside ended Wednesday night.

Vu and 39-year-old Hieu Dang of Garden Grove were thrown into the water Tuesday morning, and their boat was spotted spinning out of control about 2 miles west of Dana Point.

Dang was rescued after being in the water for about two hours. He was treated at a hospital and released.

The U.S. Coast Guard said the boat suffered a mechanical failure but did not elaborate.
