Actress Sarah Hyland Obtains Temporary Restraining Order Against Ex

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A judge has ordered the ex-boyfriend of actress Sarah Hyland to stay away from the "Modern Family" star after she said he choked and threatened her and her dog.

Hyland obtained a temporary restraining order on Friday after stating in court papers that actor Matt Prokop had been verbally and physically abusive to her.

Hyland states in her filings that Prokop choked her and pinned her to car in May and was verbally abusive in the final months of their relationship.

The couple broke up in August and Hyland says Prokop entered rehab. The 23-year-old actress states she was advised by the rehab director that she should seek a restraining order due to Prokop's attitude toward her.

A judge ordered Prokop to stay 100 yards away from Hyland and set a hearing for Oct. 10.

A receptionist for Prokop's agent Tyler Grasham said they had no comment on the allegations. Prokop is not facing any criminal charges.
