San Jacinto Residents Unnerved After Woman's Body Found In Field Near Retirement Community

SAN JACINTO (CBSLA.com) — Police in San Jacinto are trying to unravel the mysterious death of a woman whose body was discovered in a field Monday night.

The woman in her 70s was reportedly found naked in a field near Esplanade Avenue and Juanita Street.

Neighbors living in a local retirement community want to know who killed one of their friends, a woman they call Nancy, who they describe as a spitfire.

"She was a little short one with glasses. You didn't want to confront her. She was my type of girl," one woman told CBS2's Crystal Cruz.

"She was a wonderful, kind woman. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for anybody," the victim's neighbor, Kathy Mclamore, added.

Mclamore said investigators stopped by her mobile home this week looking for information.

"They just said they were checking out suspects," she said. "As far as I'm concerned, anybody who did it is a low-life."

The victim's boyfriend was too distraught to talk on camera. He said he last heard from his girlfriend Thursday when she was headed to a casino.

The man said police told him she won a jackpot there before she was killed.

Detectives are calling the woman's death suspicious but have declined to release any further details.

Management at the mobile-home park is meanwhile urging seniors to be cautious as the investigation continues.

Investigators are holding off on releasing the victim's name pending notification of family.
