Report: 'Secret' Panel To Probe LAX Security Lapses
LOS ANGELES (CBS) —A Los Angeles City Council subcommittee says they plan to follow up on reports of various security issues at Los Angeles International Airport, but there will reportedly be little or no public oversight of the review.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced last month that he assembled a 26-member panel of aviation experts to look into safety and security lapses at the airport following a series of our reports that documented everything from on-duty airport police doing crossword puzzles to blocked safety exits.
But despite the blue-ribbon panel assigned to the review, the City Council has had little success getting an update on the panel's progress.
