Rembert Leads UC Irvine Past Fullerton

IRVINE, Calif. (AP) -- Patrick Rembert scored 20 points and Mike Wilder had 17 as UC Irvine defeated Cal State-Fullerton 85-78 Wednesday night.

Daman Starring and Derrick Strings each added 11 points for the Anteaters (7-8, 1-1 Big West), who ended a four-game losing streak.

Devon Peltier had 23 points and Isiah Umipig scored 19 for the Titans (5-10, 1-2). Jer'Vaughn Johnson added 14 points.

Tied at 49 with 15:46 remaining, UC Irvine went on a 10-1 run over the next 3 1/2 minutes, then held on to hand Fullerton its third loss in four games.

The Anteaters led by nine in the first half before taking a 40-37 lead into intermission. The Titans committed a season-high 24 turnovers which Irvine turned into 28 points.
