Professional Skateboarder Admits To Sex With Girl, 15
SANTA ANA (CBS) — A 39-year-old professional skateboarder was sentenced to 60 days in jail after pleading guilty to having sex with a 15-year-old girl.
Brian Keith Patch made the guilty plea on the eve of trial Monday. He also must register as a sex offender during his 10 years of probation. Patch must also perform 15 days of community service with Caltrans.
Two felony charges were dismissed under a plea deal.
Prosecutors say Patch had sex with the girl, who's also a professional skateboarder, in 2008 after she had run away from home and was staying at his house.
The girl later claimed she made up the allegation but prosecutors say that Patch acknowledged having sex with the girl to investigators.
The victim, who is now 18 years old, said it was difficult to go to skateboard events in which the two were participating, Patch's attorney Gary Labin said.
Patch has the option of returning to court in 10 years and asking to have the charge he pleaded guilty reduced to a misdemeanor and then having it expunged, Labin said.
