Pricey Gems Stolen From Downtown Jeweler
TUSTIN (CBS) — An Orange County jeweler was robbed late Thursday night and police believe the suspects could have escaped with hundreds of thousands of dollars in jewels.
Authorities say two suspects targeted the jeweler, following him home from work in downtown Los Angeles' jewelry district, and attacked him outside of his gated community in Tustin at Robertson Drive and Clifford Court.
Police said the suspects blocked in the victim's car with a truck and a man in a motorcycle helmet, who was armed with a metal bar, approached the car and robbed the victim.
Police searched the area for fingerprints and other clues after the crime.
The stolen gems had an estimated value of $100,000 to $250,000.
