Police Searching For Arson Suspect Setting Fires In Sherman Oaks And Van Nuys

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Police are searching for an arson suspect who is believed to have set at least six fires in and around Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks and Van Nuys.

Officers responded to reports of multiple fires set between 8:15 p.m. and 9:32 p.m. Wednesday evening, including an exterior structure fire at a Sherman Oaks strip mall located at 13912 Ventura Boulevard. That fire was reported at 8:53 p.m. and was out 17 minutes later, according to the LAFD.

Five other trash-related fires were reported.

Investigators say all of the fires appear to be arsons.

Police are looking for a single suspect traveling on foot.

LAPD detectives and arson investigators have been assigned to the investigation.
