The victim was singled out among a dozen other customers while making a drink for himself at the self- serve counter at Panderia La Chapina on Wednesday night, Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.
Two men who appeared to be in their mid-20s walked past about a dozen other patrons, then one of them pulled out a gun and shot the victim multiple times about 7:40 p.m., according to Bertagna.
The motive for the attack was unclear, Bertagna said. The victim, whose name has not been released, was not a gang member, the corporal added.
Descriptions of the two suspects were not released. The store has a security camera, and investigators were viewing footage of the shooting, Bertagna said.
