Orange County investigators seeking additional victims of Redlands sexual assault suspect

Police are seeking help from the public in identifying possible additional victims of a sexual assault suspect who was recently arrested for allegedly committing lewd acts with underage girls. 

Peter Michael Mejia, a 27-year-old man from Redlands, was arrested on Monday according to the Costa Mesa Police Department. He was charged with two counts of using an underage person for obscene matter and one count of lewd or lascivious acts with a minor younger than 14, both of which are felonies. He was also charged with a misdemeanor count of lewd acts on a child 14 or 15 years old, according to court records. 

Investigators were made aware of allegations on Feb. 13, learning that Mejia was engaged in sexual relationships with multiple underage girls. After interviewing the two alleged victims, they learned that the suspecet had communicated with them via social media before picking them up in his car. 

"Due to the arrestee's access to young girls through social media, detectives are seeking the public's assistance in identifying potential additional victims Mejia might have had access to via any social platform," police said.
