Orange County high school wrestling coach arrested for alleged sexual relationships with minors
Authorities are seeking additional victims of an Orange County high school wrestling who allegedly had sexual relationships with underage girls between 2017 and 2023.
Investigators with the Orange County Sheriff's Department Special Victims Detail were made aware of the allegations in February while conducting an investigation aimed at reducing sexual assault on athletes, according to a press release from OCSD.
"The victims were subsequently contacted, and an investigation ensued," deputies said.
They began to investigate 28-year-old Huntington Beach man Anthony Oscar Alcala, who worked as a wrestling coach with El Modena High School and Foothill High School. Both victims told investigators that he groomed and had sexual relationships with them.
Investigators also found that Alcala was previously employed as the coach of a private wrestling club in Placentia called Premier Wrestling, which was formerly known as Somar Wrestling.
Alcala was arrested on Thursday, April 3 and booked on multiple felony charges including sexual intercourse with a minor, deputies said.
Due to the nature of the crimes and Alcala's access to juveniles, investigators are searching for additional potential victims. Anyone who knows more is asked to contact OCSD investigators at (714) 647-7419.
