Officer Wounded In Long Beach Shooting
LONG BEACH (CBS) — Officials say a Long Beach Police Department officer was injured Wednesday evening after firing his weapon upon a man who was allegedly wielding a knife.
Police were called to Fourth Street and Magnolia Avenue after 6 p.m. on a report of a threatening man, according to Lisa Massacani of the Long Beach Police Department.
She said the officer's injuries were not life-threatening. He was stabbed or slashed by the man holding the knife, she added.
Police said four active-duty servicemen came to the officer's aid and helped subdue the man with the knife.
The suspect was taken into custody. The extent of the suspect's injuries is unknown but his injuries are also not considered life-threatening.
