Motorcyclist killed in crash with hit-and-run driver in city of Industry
Police are still looking for the hit-and-run driver who caused a deadly crash when they allegedly cut in front of motorcyclist in the city of Industry over the weekend.
It happened at around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday at the intersection of Temple Avenue and Ruthcrest Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Investigators say that the motorcyclist, who has been identified as 25-year-old La Palma man Manuel Leyva Mier, was riding a black 2016 Yamaha R6 westbound on Temple Avenue when a silver Kia Soul suddenly changed lanes in front of him.
The sudden move caused Mier to lose control of the motorcycle and veer to the right where he struck a pole. The crash threw him from his motorcycle and he was declared dead at the scene, police said.
Instead of stopping to help, the Kia driver fled from the area.
It's unknown if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash as they continue to search for the driver.
