Man Sought For Allegedly Killing Ex-Girlfriend's Dog

PALM SPRINGS (CBS) — Authorities Tuesday were searching for a man who allegedly shot his ex-girlfriend's pit bull to death.

Palm Springs police Sgt. Paul Abshire said 35-year-old Raymond Alfred Espinoza entered the Marguerite Street residence of Joyce Brightwell just before 4:30 p.m. Monday and allegedly shot the dog, which police found dead on the kitchen floor.

"The dog had been shot several times with an unknown firearm," Abshire said. "Further investigation revealed that Brightwell's ex-boyfriend, Raymond Espinoza, was the one who fired the rounds and killed the dog."

Espinoza is named as "a parolee at large" in an unspecified warrant. He has a felony record and is not supposed to have a gun, according to authorities.
