Man Critically Injured In West Hills House Fire
WEST HILLS (CBS) — A man was critically injured Thursday in an early morning house fire in the San Fernando Valley.
The fire broke out around 2:45 a.m. in the 6500 block of Sheltondale Avenue.
The fire was extinguished in about 20 minutes.
A man in his 50s was taken to a local hospital with second-degree burns to his face and torso, fire officials said. The victim suffered burns to 60 percent of his body.
His condition is unknown.
Three other people in the home escaped without injury, officials said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but officials said there were no smoke detectors in the house.
Damage to the home is estimated to be nearly $200,000, officials said.
