Man arrested for trying to kidnap jogging woman in Ventura, police say
A man was arrested last week after he allegedly tried to kidnap a woman while she was jogging in Ventura, police said.
It happened on Friday, March 25 at around 2:45 p.m. in the area near Telegraph Road and Saticoy Avenue, according to the Ventura Police Department.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with a female victim who told them that while she was jogging and stopped at the intersection she was "bear-hugged" from behind by an unknown man, VPD's press release said.
"The victim had her headphones in both ears and did not hear the man approach from behind her," the release said. "The victim was able to struggle and break free, running from the suspect."
Police learned that a witness to the incident saw the suspect grab the woman and pulled over to help her. After she broke free, the victim jumped into their car and they drove away. The witness was also able to take some photos of the suspect as he ran from the area.
"The victim was not injured during the attack," police said.
They circulated the photo on social media, hopeful that someone could recognize him, but no leads came from the attempt.
Investigators were able to locate additional cameras in the area and confirmed the suspect's identity as 28-year-old Ventura man Vincent Domniguez.
He was arrested near his home and booked for attempted kidnapping, police said.
No further information was provided.
