Man arrested for stabbing woman in Culver City

Police arrested a man for allegedly stabbing a woman in Culver City last week.

They were sent to the 6000 block of Slauson Avenue at around 1:30 a.m. Friday morning after receiving reports of an assault with a deadly weapon in the area, according to a statement from the Culver City Police Department.

"Officers ensured the victim was transported for medical treatment at a nearby hospital, while simultaneously launching a search for the suspect," police said, noting that he was last seen fleeing from the area on foot.

The man, only identified as a 57-year-old Los Angeles resident, was arrested hours later somewhere in downtown Los Angeles, police said. They did not provide specifics on his arrest. They say that he was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and possession of narcotics.

They say that the man and woman may have been in a relationship.
