Man Arrested After 8-Hour Standoff At Bonaventure Hotel
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Police pumped tear gas through an air conditioning duct and burst through a door to arrest a man barricaded for eight hours inside a downtown Los Angeles luxury hotel.
Several rooms in the Westin Bonaventure Hotel were evacuated during the standoff, which began at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and ended before 4 a.m. Thursday.
No one was hurt during the siege.
Police Capt. Todd Chamberlain says the man wasn't paying his bill. The hotel asked him to leave and Chamberlain says the man made threats indicating he had a weapon.
SWAT team officers were called in but the man refused to surrender.
It's unclear if the man, whose name hasn't been released, had a weapon.
