Man, 22, Sentenced To Prison In Christmas Day Murder Of Stepfather
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 22-year-old man was sentenced to prison Thursday for murdering his stepfather on Christmas Day last year.
According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Rudy Flores was convicted for the stabbing death of Nery Ambrosio, 54.
Flores plead guilty Sept. 10 to one count of second-degree murder and admitted to personally using a deadly weapon, a knife, during the crime.
According to prosecutors, Flores had been arguing with his mother Dec. 25, 2013, about a baseball bat that she hid from him.
He forced his way into his mother's bedroom after she refused to tell where the bat was located and stabbed Ambrosio, who was in the room, officials said.
A family member called 911 after the attack, and authorities arrested Flores in connection with the killing, a news release stated.
Flores was ordered Thursday to spend 16 years to life in state prison.
