Long Beach Approves Cuts, Police Layoffs
LONG BEACH (CBS/AP) — The Long Beach City Council has approved a budget that includes police cuts and rotating closures of fire stations.

Cuts include about 64 police positions and 18 firefighters, reduction of all library hours to five days a week, reduced staffing of after-school parks programs and elimination of a truck used to repair potholes.
CBS 2's Suraya Fadel reports that ambulance services will also be scaled back significantly.
The budget was approved late Tuesday night in an effort to bridge an $18.5 million deficit.
