Local Boxing Legend Hosts Annual Turkey Giveaway
EAST LOS ANGELES — The Oscar De La Hoya Foundation hosted his 20th Annual Turkey Giveaway Foundation in the boxing legend's hometown of East L.A. Saturday
DeLa Hoya and other star fighters distributed hundreds of turkeys and other Thanksgiving foods to members of the community.
De La Hoya started the Oscar De La Hoya Foundation in 1995 to help his home community.
"I know what its like for my mother and father to be working 2 or three jobs and working hard to put food on the table," Jason Quigley, who fights under De La Hoya's Golden Boy Boxer Promotional firm. "So for me its an honor and privilege to give back."
Neighbors are glad the 10-time world champion hasn't forgotten them.
"If we bought turkey, we wouldn't have a Christmas," one young girl said.
