LAPD Officers Shoot, Wound Allegedly Armed Man In South LA

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department shot and wounded an allegedly armed man Tuesday evening in South Los Angeles.

According to LAPD, officers were called to the 1600 block of East 109th Street, near the intersection of Compton Avenue, at about 6 p.m. for an assault with a deadly weapon suspect allegedly armed with a knife.

When officers arrived on scene, they said they found the man allegedly armed with a knife and used less lethal munitions before shooting the man.

The man was struck by gunfire and taken to a nearby hospital where he was said to be undergoing surgery. No officers were injured.

The stabbing victim was said to have sustained minor injuries and was being interviewed by detectives. Police said two knives were recovered at the scene.

The investigation into the shooting was ongoing Tuesday night.
