Lancaster Students Bring Gifts To Soldiers Readying For Deployment

LANCASTER (CBS) — Some Lancaster students Friday made sure that local soldiers would not be forgotten when they deploy overseas.

They surprised the soldiers at their Readiness Center in Lancaster. They came with home-made medals and pins with a heart and the words "never forgotten."

The students said that it is important to make sure they know their sacrifice is appreciated.

"They are going to help to fight and protect us and it's just something that I would never have the courage to do. And they're doing it for us, so it's a great feeling," high school student Sotyvette Castillo said.

"They don't do things because they have to; it's more of a want. So these kids wanted to give us so it makes it that much more meaningful," a soldier said.

The soldiers leave in August.
