LGBT Center Announces $25M Fundraiser To Provide Affordable Housing To Youths, Seniors

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles LGBT Center has announced a $25 million fundraising campaign to provide even more affordable housing for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youths and seniors.

The center wants to offer more beds for homeless youths and more housing units for low-income seniors and young adults, Lorri Jean, chief executive of the LGBT Center, said.

"We're turning away kids every day and we have to do more," Jean said. "Most of our LGBT seniors are more poor than anyone realized."

A new building planned across the street from the LGBT Center will become the new headquarters, Jean said.

Donors have pledged $19 million so far.
