LA Board Of Supervisors Approves 200 Job Cuts
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved a plan to cut more than 200 jobs from the county's Probation Department.
The board is also asked the county's chief executive officer Tuesday to recommend alternative ways to save nearly $32 million.
The plan to lay off 159 sworn officers, cut 48 other employees from juvenile halls and eliminate funding for more than 200 other vacant positions will not take effect until July 1st. In the interim, CEO William Fujioka and Probation Chief Donald Blevins will look at other ways to close the department's funding gap.
