L.A. Residents Test Better This Year In The 'Honest Tea' Contest

WEST HOLLYWOOD (CBS) — L.A. is known for many things, but are we known for honest residents?

A company called "Honest Tea" is conducting an experiment in 12 cities testing residents on whether they'd act honestly when no one was looking. They set up stands offering cold bottles of ice tea for $1 -- but no one is there to collect the money. People were expected to pay on the honor system.

So did residents of the "City of Angels" act like little angels?

According to company observers, the stand they set up at the corner of San Vicente and Santa Monica in West Hollywood showed overwhelming results -- most people who took a bottle also dropped a dollar in the box.

"Honest Tea" did this same experiment last year to dramatically different results. Last year, Los Angeles came in last and Boston ranked first in the honesty contest.
