Jailhouse Cook Gets 9 Months For Inmate Assaults
SANTA ANA (AP) — A Southern California jailhouse cook has been sentenced to nine months in jail and must register as a sex offender for assaulting two female inmate kitchen helpers.
Prosecutors say 54-year-old James Arroyo, a non-sworn Orange County Sheriff's Department employee, pleaded guilty Monday to misdemeanor sexual battery and other counts involving inmates he supervised at the county jail.
Besides the 270 days in jail, Arroyo has been placed on five years' probation.
