Heat advisory issued for parts of Southern California as temperatures soar
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for parts of Southern California as temperatures soar this weekend.
The advisory went into effect at 10 a.m. Saturday and will remain in effect until 8 p.m. Monday. It covers:
- Inland Orange County
- Riverside mountains and valleys
- San Bernardino valleys
The heat will be felt away from those areas as well, with above-average temperatures expected across the region.
Downtown Los Angeles is expected to see a high of 97 degrees by Saturday afternoon. Along the coast, Malibu will be close to 90 degrees, with a high of 88 degrees.
The heat will continue through the weekend, with Burbank flirting with triple digits with an anticipated high of 99 degrees on Sunday.
The Inland Empire will see triple digits, with Hemet expected to see a high of 104 on Saturday. Santa Clarita and surrounding areas will also see triple digits this weekend.
The hot weather is expected to stick around through most of next week. The LA and Orange County metro areas can expect 90-degree heat, while the valleys can anticipate triple-digit temperatures, with a possible high of 106 next Friday.
