Gunfire Wounds 2 Near LA's Crenshaw High

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles police say a man and a teenager have been injured in a shooting near a high school.

Police spokesman Gregory Baek says a person in a vehicle fired multiple shots at 1:25 p.m. Wednesday down the block from Crenshaw High School.

Baek says the apparent intended victim, a 19-year-old man, was struck in the chest and hospitalized in serious condition.

A 17-year-old boy was hit in the hand. He was treated at the scene.

Police say neither victim was a student at the school.

Baek says the shooter fled in a red car.

A Los Angeles Unified School District spokesperson says the campus was locked down immediately following the shooting, but students were dismissed at the normal time.
