GLENDALE, Ariz. (CBSLA.com/AP) -- Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Zack Greinke left his start against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday after throwing just four pitches because of a mild right calf strain.
Chris Withrow, who has played in three games with the Dodgers in 2013, took over over the injured Greinke, but the 24 year-old pitcher gave up two runs and gave up three walks in one and a third innings.
Greinke, Los Angeles' No. 2 starter, was making his first spring start after saying he had "zero interest" making the trip for the Dodgers' two regular-season games in Sydney, Australia, March 22-23 against Arizona.
However, after the game he clarified from is negative comments towards the Australia trip.
"If we're going to be there, and we obviously are, yes I'd like to pitch there," he said to MLB.com. "My comments, I didn't realize they would cause a stir. I'm looking forward to playing over there. No one wants me to say it, I had to vote to go, my vote was not to go. Now that we are going, I want to be there. I don't want the team to go and me sit here and watch. I don't want to go and watch. I want to play."
The Dodgers won 4-3.
