Glendale Police Continue Hunt For Hit-And-Run Driver Who Left 75-Year-Old In Grave Condition

GLENDALE ( — Glendale Police Thursday continued to hunt for a hit-and-run driver who left a 75-year-old woman in grave condition.

Leleh Issakhanian was struck in the 1100 block of Western Avenue around 4:20 p.m. on Oct. 2.

Officials said Issakhanian was getting out of her parked vehicle when she was struck by a van just north of Glenoaks Boulevard.

Police released surveillance video Wednesday hoping that someone might recognize the vehicle.

"She was standing on the street after exiting her vehicle, a white utility van passes going southbound, strikes her. She suffered major internal injuries," Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.

The van was last seen going eastbound on Glenoaks after striking the victim.

Issakhanian remains at County-USC Hospital, where her condition has worsened from critical to grave in a week.

Glendale Police say elderly women being hit by cars is becoming too commonplace, five within the past week.

"It's going to be very hard for an officer to write a ticket to an 88-year-old lady, but it could be your grandmother, jaywalking," Lorenz said, "but we need to create conversation among seniors that the streets are dangerous."
