Fixed-Wing Plane Crashes Into Parked Car In Hesperia

HESPERIA (CBS) — A fixed-wing plane crashed into a neighborhood in Hesperia, hitting a tree and car before coming to a stop near a home.

The crash, which occurred about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, took place on Summit Valley Road.

CBS2's Nicole Gonzales spoke with resident Sandy Vanberg, whose home became a crash pad for the Cessna 182.

"It's unbelievable how lucky we feel, all of us," Vanberg said.

The two men aboard the small plane walked away with only bump and bruises.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department says the plane departed Hesperia Airport and then lost power. The pilot tried an emergency landing but clipped the house instead.

Although Vanberg's car caught fire and home suffered minor damage, she says she feels very lucky.

"God was looking out for us," she added.
