FBI Agents Raid Oxnard City Hall
OXNARD, Calif. (AP) — The Ventura County district attorney's is searching Oxnard City Hall as part of a probe conducted jointly with the FBI.
Investigator Rob Briner confirmed his office was investigating the city, but declined to provide further details.
City Hall was on lockdown for several hours Friday while investigators searched the building for financial forms and other records. The Ventura County Star reports that many of the city's top management, including the city manager, assistant city manager, finance director and deputy director of public works, were interviewed.
Mayor Tom Holden told the newspaper he was "completely caught off guard" by the probe. He added that he has not been questioned by investigators.
Oxnard is a city of roughly 200,000 northwest of Los Angeles.
