Electric Highway In Long Beach Will Reduce Emissions From Big-Rig Trucks

CARSON (CBSLA) — The country's first electric highway is up and running in Carson.

Siemens and the South Coast Air Quality Management district teamed up to make it happen.

It's a one-mile stretch between the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.

It has electric lines overhead that power trucks similar to the way some trolleys are powered.

The E-highway promises to cut down on carbon dioxide emissions.
