Dodgers Hold Collection Drive For Fire Damaged San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Dodgers Thursday will hold a collection drive for the San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission which was severely damaged by a fire.

The May 3 fire destroyed nearly the entire mission and now the facility is in need of everything from food, bedding and clothing for residents.

The Dodgers are urging residents to bring donations of canned food, money and other items to Lot 1 at Dodger Stadium from 7 a.m. through 6 p.m.

Wives of players and Dodger alumni will be on hand to collect donations.

Fans can also make monetary contributions to the mission online through Monday by visiting www.dodgers.com/ladf.

About $2.5 million is needed to rebuild the shelter.
