Deputies Catch Escaped OC Inmate In Lake Forest
LAKE FOREST (CBS) — Orange County sheriff's deputies Thursday night caught an escaped convict who wiggled through a kitchen window to escape an Orange County jail.
William Scott Woodin became the first inmate diverted due to overcrowding in the state's prisons to escape from a county jail.
Deputies tracked down Woodin just after 8 p.m. near Vintage Park, in the 27100 block of Valleymont Road in Lake Forest, Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said.
There was a short foot pursuit, but Woodin was otherwise taken into custody without incident.
Woodin had been last seen in the Theo Lacy county jail at 4 p.m.
