2 Firefighters Hurt In 65-Acre Blaze Near Glendora
GLENDORA (CBSLA.com) — Two firefighters have suffered heat-related injuries as crews continue to battle a 65-acre blaze in the Angeles National Forest above Glendora.
The brush fire, dubbed the Shoemaker Fire, is five percent contained, according to Cal Fire.
It was reported shortly before 1 p.m. near East Fork and Glendora Mountain roads.
Glendora Mountain Road was closed from East Fork Road to Big Dalton Canyon Road, Glendora Ridge Road was closed from Glendora Mountain Road to
Mt. Baldy Road, officials said.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department sent a helicopter and two camp crews to assist two Forest Service helicopters and a fixed-wing tanker in the
firefighting effort.
Officials said no structures were believed to be immediately threatened. There are no homes in the surrounding area.
A county firefighter was airlifted to a hospital, but his condition was not immediately available, according to Angeles National Forest spokesman Justin Tyler. The other injured firefighter, a member of the U.S. Forest Service, was being evaluated at the scene.
