Christina Aguilera Files For Divorce, Days After Separation Announcement

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Christina Aguilera has filed for divorce from her husband days after announcing the couple had separated.

Court records in Los Angeles show the "Beautiful" singer filed Thursday to end her nearly five-year marriage to music executive Jordan Bratman.

The 29-year-old singer cited irreconcilable differences for the breakup. She is seeking joint custody of the couple's 2-year-old son.

In a statement announcing their separation on Tuesday, Aguilera said the pair's commitment to their son "remains as strong as ever."

The Grammy Award winner and Bratman were married in November 2005. Court filings, first obtained by celebrity website TMZ, state the couple separated in September.
