Bus Driver Shot In Face With Pellet Gun By Fare-Jumping Passenger
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Investigators say a Los Angeles County bus driver has been shot in the face with a pellet gun by a passenger who refused to pay his fare.
The 54-year-old Metropolitan Transportation Authority driver's injury is described as minor.
Sheriff's Capt. Mike Parker says a passenger got into a fare dispute with the driver in South Los Angeles at about 7 p.m. Tuesday, then got off the bus. The man chased the bus to the next stop and investigators say he fired three rounds from a pellet gun at the driver as passengers were being let off.
Los Angeles police officers spotted 25-year-old Victor Alfonso Martinez a short time later and he was arrested for the shooting.
