Alhambra police shared a video of an alleged burglar posing as a delivery driver to check if a home was empty, before two other suspects made their way inside.

The date that the incident happened was not disclosed, but officers were called to the 3300 block of Balzac Street after learning of a "suspicious individual posing as an Uber Eats driver" who had pulled up and was asking residents if they ordered from DoorDash, according to the Alhambra Police Department.

"We don't think she even knew which app she was pretending to work for," APD said in an Instagram post. "Turns out, she wasn't delivering food but rather checking if the house was vacant."

Investigators say that once the suspect confirmed no one was home, she told two other people that they could get inside as she waited as a lookout.

"The suspects jumped the fence and forced entry," APD said. "Just as they started grabbing stuff, they noticed APD outside and decided to play hide-and-seek. The fake delivery driver tried to warn them through text that we were in the area, but she got caught herself. Oops."

Alhambra K9 officer Doggo helped locate the two suspects and they were taken into custody.

The trio of burglars have since been identified as Lake Elsinore resident Kennisha Powell, Baldwin Park resident Dejon Brown and Los Angeles resident Jerry Mullen.

All were booked for residential burglary.

No further information was provided.

This isn't the first time that Southern California neighborhoods have seen similar crime. In 2024, a Monrovia man was arrested after he broke into multiple Orange County residences after posing as a delivery driver.
