Brush Fire Burns Next To 105 Freeway In Hawthorne
HAWTHORNE (CBSLA) - Los Angeles County Fire Department units are extinguishing a brush fire that erupted near the eastbound Century (105) Freeway in Hawthorne.
The fire broke out around 4:45 p.m. Thursday, as rush hour traffic was getting heavy.
The second, third, and fourth lanes and the Prairie Avenue offramp from the freeway were closed.
A SigAlert was sent out by the California Highway Patrol around 5 p.m. Traffic was backed up for miles.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
