Bobby Brown Charged With DUI
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Singer Bobby Brown, ex-husband of the late Whitney Houston, was charged Wednesday with three misdemeanor counts stemming from his arrest in the San Fernando Valley.
The R&B singer was arrested Monday by the California Highway Patrol on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Los Angeles city attorney's spokesman Frank Mateljan says one of the counts alleges Brown was driving with a blood-alcohol content above .08, the level a person is presumed to be impaired.
According to a CHP report, he was driving west on Victory just east of Yolanda Avenue in moderate traffic when an officer saw him talking on a cell phone.
"Mr. Brown displayed objective symptoms of intoxication and was asked to submit to a series of field sobriety (tests) that he was unable to perform as explained/demonstrated," according to the report.
He was released from jail without having to post bail.
Brown could face up to six months in jail if convicted. He is set to appear in court April 16.
