Catholic Mass Held In Santa Monica For Former City Councilman Bill Rosendahl

SANTA MONICA (CBSLA.com) — A Catholic mass was held Tuesday to remember the life of former City Councilman Bill Rosendahl in Santa Monica.

The service began at 10 a.m. at St. Monica Catholic Church, located at 725 California Avenue.

The eulogy was read by former Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Friends and family members offered readings. Rosendahl's successor, 11th District City Councilman Mike Bonin, delivered prayers.

Rosendahl served on the City Council from 2005 to 2013.

In July 2012, he was diagnosed with stage-four cancer of the ureter, which is a tube that connects the kidney to the bladder.

During his term, Rosendahl was an ardent supporter of medical marijuana, which he used to fight the side effects of his cancer treatments.

Rosendahl is survived by his partner, Hedi El-Kholti, brother Thomas and sister-in-law Sheila, and their sons Robbie-Paul, Ricky-Luke and Arthur; his brother Steven, sister Mary LeMothe, sister Helen Davoren and nephew Christopher.
