Bike Rider, 19, Hit By A Van And Killed In Lake Elsinore
LAKE ELSINORE (CBS) — A 19-year-old was struck by a van as he rode his bicycle across a street in Lake Elsinore, and pronounced dead at a hospital, deputies said Saturday.
Cody Wessel of Wildomar was crossing Casino Drive in the 31700 block just before 1 p.m. Friday when he was hit by the van, according to a deputy at the sheriff's department. The collision was just south of Interstate 15.
Wessel was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Deputies said Wessel was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The driver of the full-sized Chevrolet work van remained at the scene, was questioned by deputies and then released.
