In Orange County, a burrito is true comfort food. There's nothing better than walking into a great Mexican eatery with the intention to devour a hearty burrito. But when all the aromas hit you, it's sometimes hard to decide just what your palate is craving. Here is a list of where to go to get Orange County's biggest and best burritos.

Jalapeños Mexican Food
154 N Glassell St
Orange, CA 92866
(714) 538-7328

Jalapeños is a well-loved, family-owned restaurant. This spot cooks everything to order with no ingredients sitting around for any period of time. Now, that's fresh. The portions are very generous and reasonably priced. The Carnitas Burrito is perfectly cooked and the shredded pork is tender and delicious. The Carne Asada Burrito is better suited for meat lovers, because it comes with a healthy serving of smoky, grilled steak. Jalapeños' breakfast burrito can be a tasty start to your day. Hint: Go off the menu and make it an Al Pastor Breakfast Burrito with your choice of fillings.

821 N Placentia Ave
Fullerton, CA 92831
(714) 528-9291

A California burrito is a phenomenon in itself and Pepe's has kicked this classic up a notch. It is not listed on the menu, and doesn't claim to be authentically Mexican. Instead, its claim to fame is its size as well as the huge equal portions of sour cream, guacamole, meat and beans. Order a side of fries and add it to the burrito fillings to create that famous California burrito combination. With a generous smothering of two great salsas, you have an amazing meal in front of you. Pepe's also has a great breakfast burrito with eggs, papas, cheese, bacon, beans and fresh salsa or green chili pork sauce.

Some of the best burritos with an Asian Mexican fusion flair can be found on a brightly decorated truck driven throughout Orange County. Dos Chinos was featured by OC Weekly as one of the Top 10 Burritos in the county. The biggest problem is choosing which burrito to order. If you like curry, you'll love the Hollywood Chicken Burrito with Thai coconut and curry chicken. For pork belly fans, the Bolsa Roast Pork Burrito is totally satisfying. The Oahu Shrimp Burrito with Hawaiian, garlic-butter shrimp is a must try for seafood lovers. Order the Chino fries with clarified garlic butter and cotija cheese for a real treat.

Los Primos Cantina
488 E 17th St, Suite A106
Costa Mesa, CA 92627

Are you hungry enough to eat a horse? Get the Mr. Serious Burrito at Los Primos Cantina; a two-pound, seriously-packed, double-tortilla burrito that's filling even for two people. Consider ordering it "wet" for extra sauce. The multiple tortillas are necessary to keep this beast together. The Cantina's Breakfast Burrito is also a great choice with black beans, eggs, cheese and hot salsa; add some meat with the Chorizo Breakfast Burrito. One of the best features is that each meal is prepared right in front of you, allowing you to customize your order.

El Toro Bravo
739 W 19th St
Costa Mesa, CA 92627
(949) 646-4266

The saying "don't judge a book by its cover" can definitely be applied to El Toro Bravo. This place isn't necessarily inviting. But try its food, and you'll have a hard time leaving. The Burrito de Costilla is likely largely responsible for its great reputation. The ribs for this burrito are cut right in front of you and El Toro does not hold back on portions. While the burritos are the star at El Toro Bravo, the horchata - a creamy, nut- or seed-based drink - is a perfect pair for your meal. Meat options abound: steak, chicken, goat, rib, pork, spicy pork and tongue are all listed.
