Angels Fall To KC 8-2 In Cactus League

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- Mitch Maier had four of Kansas City's 11 hits and the Royals beat the Los Angeles Angels 8-2 on Thursday.

Maier scored twice and drove in two runs. Mike Aviles also had a sacrifice fly for Kansas City.

Ervin Santana pitched 1 1-3 innings in his first spring start for the Angels, yielding two runs and two hits. Santana went 17-10 with a 3.92 ERA last season and figures to be Los Angeles' No. 3 starter behind Jered Weaver and Dan Haren.

Kyle Davies worked two innings in his second spring start for Kansas City. The right-hander allowed two runs and two hits.

Royals closer Joakim Soria made his first spring appearance, tossing a scoreless inning.
