4 Killed In Fiery Crash On 110 Freeway In Gardena

GARDENA (CBSLA.com/AP) — A car crashed into a guardrail on a Los Angeles-area freeway and veered off the freeway before bursting into flames, killing four people.

The California Highway Patrol says the single-car crash happened around 3:30 a.m. Sunday along the 110 Freeway in Gardena.

CHP says four people inside the car were trapped after it went over an embankment and caught fire. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The identities of the two men and two women killed in the crash have not been released.

The cause of the crash is not yet known, though witnesses reported that the car was speeding when it veered off the road, according to CHP officers.

On Sunday evening, officials also said wet roads might have been a factor in the crash.

Also on Sunday, the CHP said three of the four victims were 18-years-old. The age of the fourth victim was not disclosed.
