4 Injured In Westminster House Fire

WESTMINSTER (CBS) — Four people were hospitalized, including a firefighter and a police officer, and were treated for burns resulting from a fire inside a Westminster home.

The blaze was reported at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 7800 block of 13th Street, Capt. Greg McKeown of the Orange County Fire Authority said.

All four people were taken to a hospital, including two men with burn injuries who live in the home, one firefighter with minor burns and a police officer who suffered smoke inhalation and a burn on his hand, McKeown said. At least one of the men remains in the hospital as of Thursday morning.

A witness at the scene said one of the residents told firefighters that he had started the fire. The man apparently hid from firefighters during the fire and well into the investigation.

The man had third-degree burns on different areas of his body, the witness said.
