2 Dead, 1 Wounded In Venice Shooting
LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP) — Police say two people have died and one more person wounded in a shooting at a park in the Venice area.
Sgt. Andre Belotto says the shooting happened at about 4:10 p.m. near Penmar Park.
Officer Rosario Herrera says one person died at the scene. He was reportedly shot in the chest.
Another died at the hospital.
Originally, officials said two of the victims had minor, to moderate, injuries.
Belotto says a search for suspects is under way.
It is unknown what led to the shooting.
The third shooting victim had a leg wound that was not life-threatening, said police.
The LA Times quotes an eyewitness to the shooting saying the gunmen "calmly" walked up to a crowd of people and began firing.
Police theorized Wednesday evening the shootings were gang-related.
Both deceased were described as being between 18-20 years of age.
