2 Tree Sitters Plead No Contest To Trespassing During Arcadia Woodland Protest

ALHAMBRA (AP) — Two tree sitters have pleaded no contest to trespassing during a Southern California protest in a doomed grove of oaks and sycamores.

The Pasadena Star-News reports a Los Angeles judge ordered 23-year-old Julia Jaye Posin of Venice and 45-year-old Andrea Bowers of Los Angeles to each pay a $60 fine and perform 10 hours of community service.

Two men are also charged in the Jan. 12 protest against Los Angeles County's destruction of an Arcadia woodland on Jan. 12. Fifty-year-old John Quigley of Glendale and 28-year-old Travis Jochimsen of Lancaster face a late July court hearing.

They had hoped to prevent the grove from becoming a dumpsite for tons of sediment dredged from behind the Santa Anita Dam.
